Every year I get to visit at the Washington State Reining Horse Association's Classic show with Joel Gleason of Avila's Pro Shop. Joel sold me my black and white straw hat that I get so many compliments on. His knowledge of tack and tack makers is out of this world. Those getting into the Ranch Riding events really need to look him up. You can find them online at https://avilaproshop.com/
It's always great to catch up with Joel. I enjoy listening and learning of great horses and greater horsemen of now and then. Joel has been a big supporter of my artwork and my photography. He raised and showed halter horses just like I have. I swear us halter people are a dying breed. One of these days I'm going to get a chance to visit him and his beloved wife in Montana. I can't wait!
Being at a show though also gives me a little time to play around with my camera for myself. You can check out the few pictures I did on my online store at https://kirstenhammerfineartphotography.pixieset.com/wrhashowjune2018/

On March 19, 2018, I got to do my first senior session of the year. The day before I drove out to Camano Island State Park and Cama Beach State Park to check out the locations. Being Washington, our weather is not always reliable. Here, rain is considered liquid sunshine. There is a reason our state is so green!
Anyways, I met up with Katherine and her mom, Suzanne, in Stanwood. From there we drove about 15 miles to Camano Island. There are several beach access points. I'm glad we picked the one that had no one there. The other beach is the more popular as it has more exposed land during high tide.
I love it when I get to spend time with my models. We all were laughing so hard by the time we were done. My model ended up pulling an "Ariel" and looked like a mermaid at one point when she landed in the water. The show must go on though and we rolled through it.

It's been a while since I last posted on here. I got caught up on most all of my editing except personal shoots. The plan was for me to keep editing while I went on a week long vacation in Vancouver, WA, with one of my best friends. I ended up mostly playing food tourist with her and taking photos around her beautiful ranch. I was definitely in a relaxed state.
I took some video of her three horses for sale and have been editing them. It's been a very long time since I've done videos and never with my IPad before. It's been a learning experience.
So now I'm still editing, but I get to Live What I Love To Do...
